A Sweet Valentine’s Giveaway
I can’t say this for certain, but there is a good chance that if you follow my blog you have a proclivity for wine and naturally the food that accompanies it. Be it a stilton and honey with Williams & Humbert Walnut Brown Sherry, a Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape with duck (or just about anything, really) or almost any champagne with popcorn and truffle oil, wine pairings are a real treat. But with Valentine’s day around the corner, we’re thinking about the chocolate pairings. Nina Pousette, of My Chocolate Tree, has graciously offered to woo the heart of one lucky reader with her exclusive artisan chocolates.
These lovely little gems are hand decorated, dipped, and molded with love by Nina. Nina is a bubbly character who brings smiles wherever she goes! A Vancouver raised chocolatier who was trained at some of the most prestigious culinary institutes in France, she combines the pride of her craft with as many locally sourced ingredients as she is able. For example, her lavender truffles are infused with fresh lavender from Langley, BC.

A 13 Piece Box of Chocolates ($32 value)
I could go on and on about the virtues of her chocolates, but I am sure that I already had you at chocolate.
Here is how you can indulge in some of these exclusive treats:
Check out My Chocolate Tree’s website and leave a comment below telling me which one of Nina’s Chocolates you would like to pair with a wine. On February 10, I will randomly select one reader to win a gift certificate for 32 pieces of mouth watering deliciousness (a $60 value, see above photo for a 13 piece box) to spend at My Chocolate Tree! The gift certificate can be redeemed immediately for Valentine’s Day, or for winter 2010 (as she does not always have chocolate available).
Feb 3, 2010: I have decided that you can get an extra entry just for tweeting about this giveaway!
*Please note that shipping/delivery will need to be arranged through My Chocolate Tree as it is a Vancouver based operation.Tags: Chocolate, Giveaway, My Chocolate Tree, Nina Pousette, Wine Pairing

mmmmm those look delicious! And too many flavours to choose just one. So I will give a total cop-out answer and say that I would eat a whole darned box of truffles, paired with bubbles (Veuve Cliquot orange label).
I just drooled on my keyboard.

Great contest! How about this: a Fresh ‘Apple Pie’ Caramel with a Kracher Welschriesling – that would be delicious.

Caramelized banana and vanilla bean chocolate with a bright, peppery shiraz. Something South Australian.

I would love to try the Fresh Lemon Dark Ganache with Elephant Island’s Black Current fruit wine (and I think I still have a couple bottles left, perfect!). My mouth is watering thinking about it

OK, I found one! How about a Coffee Dark Chocolate Ganache under White Chocolate with Vanilla bean along with a crisp BC Chardonnay.

Y U M M I E ; What a wonderful display of Chocolate! I am most impressed with the ‘Salted Caramel Chocolate’ and would like to
think nothing could possibly add to the taste, however, if one were
to add; what could we pair?

Betty, since I know your tastes very well, I think we both know what you might be drinking with your chocolate.

Chili Dark Ganache: Although I love plain dark chocolate with my Vintage Fonseca or Quinta do Noval, I would go with a good California Zinfandel Port in this case because the chili seasoning needs to find its spicy echo in the wine.

Just have to say that I love your Champagne paired with popcorn and truffle oil idea. Never tried that but I will have to!

The art on the chocolates is exquisite!

Wow those are some of the most amazing looking chocolates I’ve seen in a long long time. You are right… you had me at chocolate!
They all look amazing, but right now I’m craving the Matcha Green Tea with Sour Cherries (white) Chocolate Bark Chips.
To go with it I keep thinking sweet things, but I think too sweet would be too much with the sweet sweet chocolate, so I would probably resort to something like a fortified Shiraz. I had an amazing one from the Clare Valley in South Australia… if only I could remember the name of the place… maybe I would have remembered it better if I hadn’t tasted so much of their amazing wine??? I think it was Annie’s Lane… maybe I should just go for the sparkling Shiraz sitting on my counter (taunting me) since it won’t fit on my wine rack?

Wowsers- they all look so fabulous! From the passion fruit & salted caramels to the fresh raspberry dark ganache… every single piece looks absolutely delish! So I’d have to pick a sampler box when all was said & done… & I’d enjoy it with a nice champagne… perhaps a rose & I’d add some strawberries too just to pretend it is remotely healthy. haha. yum! yum! YUM!
