About
I like talking about wine almost about as much as I enjoy drinking it. Almost.
My appreciation of wine developed at an early age through my father’s vinous exploits. He used to gather with his friends in our backyard for an annual grape stomp followed by an evening of wine tasting, food, and silliness. Us kids were generally left to our own devices (of non-wine related movie watching) in the basement.
As I grew older and partook in the clinking of glasses, my interest grew as did my palate. My dad’s friends began calling me over to sniff their basement wines trusting my untrained nose to determine traces of sulphur and share my thoughts on their latest creations. One such quaff of some terribly young wine provoked a descriptor of “jail bait”. In all fairness, dear Franco, it emerged as a fine leggy and robust contender.
Of late, I have come to realize that the more I learn, the more I really don’t know. I write this blog humbly sharing what I learn and hope that as a reader, you choose to embark on this swilling adventure with me.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts, and please drop me a line to share your adventure as well!
Keep an eye out for events that I will post because the best way to learn about wine is by popping a cork. And hopefully we can meet at a few of them. I have also begun planning the occasional wine event for various organizations and hope to have one for this blog eventually. One big upcoming event is my wedding! As the date draws nearer, I will likely ask for some ideas on keeping with our *ahem* theme.
A few final notes…
…of thanks:
A BIG thank you to Karen Hamilton of Tiny Bites Consulting for her professional work on making this blog look good and work so well! Her invaluable advice and ability to walk me through uncharted blogging territory is the only reason why my site looks this fantastic. She made herself available to help me through my hair pulling technology-deficient moments. For that, and her wonderful friendship, I am forever grateful.
I also want to express my gratitude to you, and encourage you to comment and say “hi”. Your feedback and encouragement keeps this blog relevant and active!
…of disclosure:
I work for a wine distributor, however due to a possible issue of conflict, I will not name my place of work nor review the wines that it distributes. I intend to keep my blogging life and my 9-5 life as separate as possible and I will disclose anything that falls into a grey area.
